The exhibition of Andy Warhol During Jan. 1 ~ Mar. 29 in Taipei

During last Christmas holidays in Taipei, I visited some musems and special exhibitions in Taipei.
The most inspired me are the Stunning Decorative Porcelain from the Ch'ien-lung Reign(Ch'ien-lung is one of emperors in Chin dynasty during 1741~1744 ) in the National Palace Museum. Another one is Andy Wharhol exhibition in the National Chiang Kai-sheck Memorial Hall during Jan 01 to Mar. 29, 2009.
From ancient to modern, those arts belong to quite different background and history, but they all be displayed in the gallery for exhibition during the same period and same city, Taipei.
Pope of Pop—Andy Warhol World Tour Exhibition” began in Europe and arrived in Asia with Taiwan as its first stop. European and American collectors and foundations jointly planned and organized the exhibition. The exhibition features works from Warhol’s entire career, including more than 120 pieces of art works from 1957 to 1986, acrylic paintings, silkscreen prints, watercolor paintings, magazine cover designs, and twenty-eight pictures that have never been seen in Taiwan.
Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987) is one of the most significant artists of the 20th century. The leader of pop art, he dominated America’s pop art world. Andy Warhol established a splendid way to portray modern celebrities including world famous stars, movie stars, artists, gallery agents. Their portraits had all turned into art. Warhol loved painting the most prominent people in society: Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Elizabeth Taylor, Mao Tse-tung. Everyone vied for a “timeless” portrait by Warhol, and every portrait is a symbol of beauty, power, and the sophisticated world. Warhol is just like a modern court artist. His goal was not only create arts also create his worth.
Through silkscreening and duplication of prints, Warhol broke the boundary between popular objects and art, transforming pop culture into art. It makes me feel more comfortable to face art and shorten the distance between people and art. Everything can be treated as a kind of art. Just like the course I am sudying in visual art. It has broadened my view about art. The objects with different stories will present the different styles of arts
After knowing Andy Warhol and his art works, a conclusion is reached: although Warhol constantly renewed his art forms and created new techniques, he had always been, as in his nature, a conceptual artist.
"In the future everyone will be famouse for fifteen minutes" ~Andy warhol

  1. Great work! I'm also interested in the porcelain exhibition though, especially since you said you used some pottery pieces in your jewelery? I would love to see some images! TX
